commence apartment search!
so, my lease renewal came last week, and landlordfolks are raising my (already high) rent a whole bunch. i have been in this apartment for three years, so i decided it was time for a change anyway, and have commenced a city-wide apartment hunt extravaganza. this has already involved lots of craigslist stalking, one trip with an apartment agent, and a full day of walking my but all over town writing down numbers off "for rent" signs.
it's tricky, because i have very high standards when it comes to apartments (as i do with most things). coupled with the pride and happiness i garner from having a living space i adore, and my unwillingness to compromise on certain features, it's kind of a long shot. but i'm determined. wish me luck.

house heartbreak

hot damn. from the yellow kitchen to the sunny reading nook to the location (down the street from my favorite grocery co-op), this is basically my dream house. i like it so much that despite not being at all in the market for a house (houses cost money, etc.), i have been sort of stalking it on FSBO. since i was home sick today, i had lots of time to do ridiculious internet things like house-stalking, and discovered it has an accepted offer - which i find totally, irrationally, heartbreaking. hopefully an adorable little family is moving in. i guess that would make it ok.

to a stranger
Passing stranger, you do not know how longingly I look upon you;You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking (it comes to me, as of a dream).
I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you.
All is recalled as we flit by each other, fluid, affectionate, chaste, matured;
You grew up with me, were a boy with me, or a girl with me;
I ate with you, and slept with you--your body has become not yours only,
Nor left my body mine only;
You give me the pleasure of your eyes, face, flesh, as we pass--
You take of my beard, breast, hands in return;
I am not to speak to you--I am to think of you when I sit alone, or wake at night alone;
I am to wait--I do not doubt I am to meet you again;
I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

beeing seen

i've been following the MoMA flickr page as it documents the marina abramovic exhibit in new york. when museum-goers sit with the artist (as part of the performnace piece the artist is present), they have such insense emotional reactions. so many of them cry... i think it must be quite similar to what i felt when the stanger on the train drew me. beeing seen can be so powerful.
