busy bee

well. i've had one of the busiest weeks, maybe ever. here is a quick rundown of things that have been going on.

1. i started a new term of teaching, this time with more classes than i've ever taught at once
2. i unpacked a lot of stuff from the move, and hung more art and things on the walls

3. i went to milwaukee to visit drew in the hospital
4. Gina and i had lunch with our former thesis adviser, Angela, and her red-haired, cuter-than-all-cuteness-combined baby, Seneca

5. Anna and Joseph are staying with me this weekend and i'm having a little housewarming party
6. a friend from college was in chicago on tour with his band, so i went to their show and hung out with some of their giant entourage

7. i touched up the paint in the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen
8. i failed to sleep or do the dishes

1. I am eating strawberries and nutella
2. I painted my living room today (photos soon)
3. I kicked some serious butt in a scrabble game earlier
4. I had a really nice convo with Eli tonight
5. Tomas and Tanya came over and we ate burritos
6. Tomorrow I'm going to Ikea with Gina

day-after lanterns

hanging lanterns

tanya had her birthday gathering tonight, and i went over early to make and hang little lanterns. we have both been saving glass jars for this occasion, and they turned out really nice, if i do say so, especially considering they are just recycled jars, tea lights, and string.

afterwards we collected them up to re-use!

new kitchen

the first thing i unpacked was the kitchen, and i'm feeling pretty good about it so far. the other rooms are still full of piles and boxes... one thing at a time...

move-in-progress

just to reiterate, hardly anything stresses me out more than moving chaos.

apartment tetris crazytimes

oh, god. i am frantically packing for my move tomorrow and am suddenly faced, once again, with the enormous amount of STUFF that somehow belongs to me. i am pretty organized, but all that really means is that when i move i have way.more.stuff. than i think i do, because it is all so neatly tucked away in some apartment-closet-master-tetris-like-game. i took a few boxes of fragile things over this morning but SERIOUSLY i have like 50 GIANT boxes plus all my furniture and it's getting down to the wire and what about all those little things like all my chargers and remotes and cords and knicknacks and the photos that go on the fridge? they are all somewhere in some box and i couldn't at all tell you where. which just makes me feel like a totally crazy person.

unfortunately there are no photos of the game-playing, frozen yogurt eating, or giant-dog-chasing, but here are a bunch of other shots from eli's visit this week, and our road trip to visit anna and joseph in iowa with gina and phil. i am happy and exhausted.
